My doctor wants me to use an eye drop without preservatives. she recommended refresh plus. is this similar?

Better ask your doctor. Refresh Tears (this product) DOES contain a preservative called "Purite." FDA rules REQUIRE a preservative in multi-dose dropper bottles. To get truly preservative-free eye drops, you will have to pay more for the single-use vial products, like Refresh Plus or other ones in single-use vials.

difference between this and Advanced Optive lubricant? I read the comparison list, still not quite follow what is the main advantage taking Advanced

what I think the difference is, when I use the refresh tears then it is more water based and eyes clear right away and fresh. But the advanced is more of an oil lubricant for your eyes so it lubricates more deeply and longer. I don't prefer the oil advanced one unless I am going to sleep. The oil always makes my eye seem a little blurry. So i prefer the tears. clears and refreshes right away. This is just my opinion and preference.

how many hours do your eyes stay moisturized on average?

I read a lot, and my eyes get very dry as a result. Refresh seems to relieve this for several hours.
