Works!
Not sure if I got lucky but this stubby works ever bit as well as my stock AnyTone HT antenna. Works great for local repeater (hot spot) and local repeaters within 10 miles. Mostly use 440 but 2M seems to work fine too. I don't intend to transmit much with it just to be safe as I can't measure the SWR but works fantastic for receive of FM radio, GMRS, 2M and 440Mhz. No reduction in performance over the excellent stock 8" dual band antenna included with the AnyTone 878UV2-Plus. Painted the ghastly 'gold' color black, much better looking.

Stiff but slick antenna
This is a very short and stiff antenna. Performance is about as expected for an antenna so short. The coating on the whip is quite smooth, almost slick, and doesn't drag on my shirt when the radio is worn on the belt--I found that to be a more comfortable situation than some other short antennas I have tried. The metal base and connector seem strong, I haven't broken it yet and I'm tough on antennas.

Cheap but effective.
Use this little guy at work. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it gets better signal than the standard length rubber duck that comes stock on my aging Motorola ex500. Better range and clarity, smaller package. Good stuff.

Great little antenna.
Excellent for short range communications. Would recommend low power when using these. After disassembling one of these and seeing how its constructed I can imagine that anything higher than low power would prove catastrophic to a radio.

Do not waste your money.
Bought this for my Baofeng 2-way radio, but it ended up being worse than the factory antenna.

Compared with the original Diamond model and it lacks of a capacitor in parallel with the coil inside. Infinite SWR in VHF band. Works only in UHF.
