D-130J D130J Original Diamond Vertical Discone Antenna - 10m-23cm

IMO... a well made antenna, hooked it up and clearly brings in stations WAY far away....good easy to follow instructions. The hardware from all of these suppliers is often less than great, so I feel its worth the $$ to replace (where you can) with ALL SS from your local hardware store. Mounted on a mast as a 10'-6" galv fence top rail from HD ($14), matched to 50' of low loss LMR400 Ultraflex coax (worth the $$), an in-line lightening arrestor, a Uniden Bearcat BCD536 scanner & a Pyramid PSV150 desktop 12/24V power supply. Couldn't be happier, would buy again.

As far as discones go a discone is a discone is a discone. The differences end up coming down to the materials used in its construction and the design of how it's held together. I absolute admire this discone antenna. It has weathered some of the worst the northern midwest has to offer season after season extremes and done it without fail year in and year out and looks and performs as good as the day it was assembled and installed. Priced right and even priced better than some competitors that use less secure build design and far less superior materials. If your in the market for a discone there is no other that I would purchase as the whole point is to get it together and installed and not have to give it another thought and that is what this one has provided and the only reason it come to mind was I was catching up on my reviews and saw I had purchased it years ago. Then I remembered it was up there doing its thing seeing as I only see the coax end of it inside occasionally.

Diamond just makes quality products. Using this for public safety scanner/monitor. Temporary is inside with the top element removed (its only needed for 25 to 50 mhz.) Great reception improvement picking up simplex HT traffic almost 4 miles away. Can only get better when permanently mounted outdoors at 30' AGL.

The antenna shown and the antenna received were two different ones. The one on the site needs a cable with the normal pl259 but the one I received needs an N male connector. Good luck finding one with the BNC connector on the radio end. This one will be heading back!

I bought this for my RTL-SDR receiver. I have not tried to transmit with it, even though it will work, because I have higher gain antennas for that purpose. I like its stainless steel construction and expect it to work for many more years to come.
