excellent phone, exceptional value
I've had this phone now for 6 months. The processor is amazing and has powered through everything I've thrown at it. The fingerprint scanner works 98% of the time, could be dry hands/fingers that it has an issue with, but otherwise is great. The face recognition works with and without my glasses on. Voice clarity is great on both sides, speaker sound for music can be tweeked with it's built-in sound app. Display is crystal clear and vibrant, videos play flawlessly, and all images are beautiful. The camera is really good, and with more features than I care to figure out how to use. The phone has a nice heft to it and feels great in the hand, as well as being aesthetically pleasing. The battery life is the best I've ever used to date. I'm a light to moderate user mostly, with heavy use occasionally; the battery lasts 2-3 days most of the time. And the "AI" charging works really well. Overall, I am not the least bit disappointed in this phone. I am quite happy with it. I only wish the battery was replaceable, though the "Artificial Intelligence" charging feature is supposed to prolong the battery life, only time will tell. But for now, I really like this phone and have no qualms with it. 6 / 64 Gb rocks! And when I get to test out the second SIM card slot over seas, I'll update this review.

One of the best Android phones with SD845, runs well on T-Mobile
Have been eyeing this phone for a while, was worried that the lack of band 66 and 71 would be an issue on T-Mobile but it's not! This phone is awesome. It has really good cameras (especially when using Google Camera), screen, and battery life. That means a lot coming from a Galaxy S9. PRO: -Very fast and is already on Android Q/10 beta -Good quality cameras -Wide angle camera -Screen is great colors are awesome -LOTS of development (ROMS, Google Camera...) -Fast fingerprint scanner -Beautiful metal and glass body -Comes with a case! MIDS: -The notch. I hate them, but this one is small and can be hidden in software (by pushing the status bar down, turning the notch pixels off) -I prefer devices that are easier to hold. This phone is just slightly bigger than I would hope for. -Fingerprint scanner location could be a little lower (maybe personal preference, my hands aren't that big) CONS: -No waterproofing -Kind of looks like an iPhone (disabling the notch in software helps)

Nice device, good price, migration isn't flawless.
Nice phone; good price. ASUS migration tool did not bring everything from my old ASUS phone, don't know why; it reported that everything was moved to new phone-- SMS messages were not carried over.

Flagship at a bargain
This phone is really fantastic in terms of value, not just at this price. I read some reviews that complained about stability. I have seen no such quirks after a week of heavy use. It's fast, stable and fun. Their audio tools are interesting. The camera is decent, even better with a really good 3rd party app. Some reviews slighted the low light camera performance, but I found I could get nice results in pro mode, or using 3rd party software. It's a pretty device physically, even if derivative in design. Unfortunately, beside the interesting swirl pattern on the back; it's a Jonny Ive asthetic in every way. If that's your thing, you've got it here, plus flawless build quality. It's an attractive, premium build and the screen is great. You get tons of controls, and I agree with the reviewers who advise tuning down the saturation just a notch. Again, contradicting some reviews, I find battery life to be excellent. I've been of the charger, using the phone heavily all day, it's after midnight, I'm at 48%. I'm looking for a new apartment, making calls, searching the web, listening to music at work, and I used navigation today. I call that great battery management. It's fast, and again contrary to some reviews, the UI has been solid and smooth throughout. Really, the performance is great in every way. It's got an interesting take on stereo speakers, but they are loud and sound good. I did have some hoops to jump through to get it on LTE with my carrier, but a couple of phone calls was really all it took. So, it's as stylish and fast as any Korean or Chinese Android flagship. No, it's not pure Android, or Android One either, and Asus does have a bit of a heavy hand on UI, but after 2 years on a Pixel, I find it novel. My only concern is Asus' less than stellar reputation with updates. In general they have excellent support, built on years of PC support, yes it's that Asus, the same company. No regrets, I'm happy to report most of the complaints, in what I need to say were actually positive reviews, were likely corrected before I made my purchase. In did get back to back updates. But really, this has been a nice surprise. This is a flagship at mid-tier pricing.

Was Nice while it lasted.
I have had this phone for 5 months and I was shocked when it suddenly stopped working the way it normally did, the battery life started draining faster and the charger would not high speed charge it anymore and in just 5 months... I have had cheaper phones last me way longer. It's not just the battery life, the receiver used to transmit data signals also started to not work properly anymore so this phone not only dies fast but cannot tell the difference between 4G LTE and 2G therefore this 2018 looking phone just became a 2006 zonk/potato.

Mic for talking on the phone didn't work..
This review is for the Zenfone 5z LTE Unlocked phone. I bought this phone as an "used - Like New" item from the amazon warehouse. The mic for speaking when answering the phone did not work. The speakerphone worked but the mic did not work when answering the phone or calling another person. Very disappointing. The colors were vibrant. The speakerphone sounded great. Setup was a breeze. It seems like a really nice phone other than the mic not working. I ordered a 2nd one (brand new - not "like new") figuring the odds are in my favor it will work.

Great Value for the Specs works great overseas!
12/28/18 This is an update on my review. The phone is still going strong. I'm someone that user to root my phone to get rid of bloatware, I don't have to with this phone not just because there is only a little bit of Asus bloatware but because the hardware can handle so much I throw at it. I don't play many games but I've tried games that are over 1GB large and it holds up like a champ. Works well in Taiwan, the 4G is super speedy my wife took me to a local mobile phone shop and got me a Sim card. Easy to turn in Data saver and allow only the programs your want to use data. Original review: I bought this phone for the specs and I couldn't be happier. So finger print sensor works great and I like the placement. I don't know how many it can hold but I have two in there. Facial security recognition works great too opens very quickly. Programs run very smoothly except for 1 time yesterrday at the park while playing Pokemon Go. The cell towers might have been overloaded becauses there were so many people at the park. It looks like a Iphone X because of the notch on the top. I use Tmobile here in the greater Seattle area and get good 4G I was a little hesitant about the lack of support for all the Tmobile 4G bands but I guess in the big city I lucked out. Also it comes with a clear cover which a another value added option and it has 3.5mm sound jack which is still essential for toady's day and age.

Bang for the buck, you couldn't go wrong!!
UPDATE 12/17/2019 I got the Android 10 update last night. WOW, this thing was fast before and now it's even better!! My Wi-Fi signals have increased. This thing just ZOOMS right along!! Would recommend this phone in a heartbeat if you can find one. Since I ordered mine a month or so ago it looks like a lot of suppliers and ASUS have run out!! If you are looking for a phone in this price range and can pick one up you won't regret it!! Got this Monday afternoon. Got it setup and 6 updates run through by that evening. This thing is FAST, I have yet to experience a system hiccup. All updates ran through flawlessly and I haven't experienced any issues with anything so far. Updated to 9.0, hoping that down the road it will update to 10, but not going to hold my breath. Fingerprint reader, don't get upset, it learns your motions and what not after usage. Mine was a little finicky the first day, but now it opens up in a flash. I'd say this is virtually native Android. I can't see much different than my previous Moto's which are also. All of the apps I've installed have run well. Haven't had much chance to take many pics with it, but will likely be testing out the camera this weekend at the football game. Will update after I've gotten a chance to take some good clicks. As I said, for the money, I couldn't be happier. This thing runs circles around my previous Moto G6 and LG G6. Of course, much better hardware, but I paid close to the same price for those. If you're looking for a great phone for good price, stop waiting and order it!! Side Note, I got this vs the ZF6 due to size. I only have one hand, so this is the biggest size I feel comfortable with. The ZF 6 is a bit bigger and I'm afraid that I'd end up dropping it all the time.
